|War Whip||2 gp||1d8 slashing||2 lb.||Martial||—|
Notes: This is essentially the slashing version of the flail or the war pick; its only advantage to the longsword is in its weight and cost.
|Smoke Bomb (Stage)||5 gp||1 lb.||Thrown|
Properties: This alchemist’s potion erupts in a cloud of smoke when shattered. When broken (using an Action), it fills a sphere with a 5 foot radius (9 squares), as per Fog Cloud. The sphere spreads around corners, and its area is heavily obscured. It lasts for 1 minute or until a wind of moderate or greater speed (at least 10 miles per hour) disperses it.
Story Element: The “Blackbox”
A “blackbox” is a leather briefcase that the Order uses to physically transport items of significance. Blackboxes are heavier than they look; a typical specimen can weigh over 50 pounds.
The extra weight comes from their construction. Blackboxes contain multiple lead sleeves, fitted inside each other like onion skins. Each has been sealed by a trusted wizard inside the Order; like the case itself, there are no seams or openings to each layer.
To the standard courier, a blackbox delivery is fairly straightforward: move Cargo X from point A to point B. But woe-betide anyone foolish enough to breech the seals. The Order is known to place numerous traps on each layer of construction. Which traps are used (and how to defuse them) are details known only to a special few within the Order.
